How to detect the quality of the potentiometer2021
The potentiometer is a commonly used electronic component, but do you know how to judge the quality of the potentiometer? This article introduces you to the method of detecting the quality of the potentiometer, and everyone can try it.
1. Check the rotation performance of the potentiometer and the reliability of the switch
When checking the potentiometer, first turn the shaft handle to check whether the shaft handle is flexible and smooth. If you hear the friction sound between the internal contacts of the potentiometer and the resistor body, it means that the quality of the potentiometer is defective.
Method of checking the potentiometer with switch: When rotating or pushing or pulling the potentiometer shaft, you should hear a crisp "click" sound when the switch is on or off. You can also use the low resistance of a multimeter to check the continuity between the two solder tabs of the switch to judge the quality of the potentiometer.
2. Detect the nominal resistance of the potentiometer
To detect the nominal resistance of the potentiometer, the measurement method is shown in the following figure: first set the multimeter to the ohm block, and then select the appropriate range according to the measured nominal resistance. Connect the two test leads of the multimeter to the A and C ends of the potentiometer, and the measured resistance value of the A and C ends is the total resistance value of the potentiometer, which should meet the specified range of the nominal resistance value. If the pointer of the multimeter does not move, or the resistance value is very different, it indicates that the potentiometer has been damaged and cannot be used anymore.

3. Detect the contact of the potentiometer
Check the contact of the potentiometer, and the measurement method is shown in the figure below. Set the multimeter to the ohm block and select the measurement range, and then connect one of the test leads of the multimeter to the B end of the potentiometer, and the other test lead to either end of the A or C ends, and fluctuate the potentiometer shaft handle at this time. The pointer of the play table should be slowly deflected: when the shaft handle is rotated to an extreme position, the resistance of the potentiometer should be the nominal resistance or the minimum contact resistance. When the shaft is rotated in the reverse direction, the pointer of the multimeter should be slowly deflected in the reverse direction to the maximum or minimum resistance value. If the pointer of the multimeter jumps or suddenly becomes infinite when the handle is rotating, it indicates that the potentiometer has poor contact. Circumstances, can no longer continue to use.
