Brazil has decided to use the MPEG-H audio system to transmit immersive and interactive audio, which greatly enhances the existing ISDB-Tb terrestrial digital TV system. Digital video is quick to respond, and adds MPEG-H audio support to its latest 10k118 broadcast TV encoder.

Digital Video 10k118 is a high-performance and easy-to-use encoder suitable for cable, satellite, IPTV and terrestrial digital TV applications. With the close cooperation of the technical teams of FraunhoferIIS and Digital Video, Digital Video 10k118 has successfully integrated MPEG-H audio and can output ISDB-Tb stream that meets the requirements of Brazil's latest ABNT broadcast television standard. This allows TV stations to simultaneously broadcast AAC audio and MPEG-H audio content with immersive sound and interactive functions on the existing SBTVD/ISDB-Tb system.
Digital Video’s real-time broadcast TV encoder now supports all major video formats and transmits MPEG-H audio in various HD and UHD broadcast services via ISDB-T, DVB-T2 and DVB-C. In addition, the integrated solution of digital video 10k118 will also contribute to the development of China's ultra-high-definition video industry.
Guo Jiaying, Senior Product Manager of Digital Video, said: "FraunhoferIIS is a long-term partner of our audio solutions. We are very happy to be able to use MPEG-H audio. Digital video products are distributed in more than 110 countries and regions around the world, serving 1 billion people worldwide. We believe that MPEG-H audio will bring innovative audio experiences to more families."
The MPEG-H audio system can support both SDI and IP transmission at the beginning of its design. Its unique scheme enables MPEG-H metadata to be transmitted through the PCM channel on SDI, and it is always synchronized with the video frame rate. The MPEG-H production and monitoring unit can be used for live production of personalized functions and provide MPEG-H metadata to the digital video encoder in real time.
Toni Fiedler, head of FraunhoferIIS China, said: “At present, all mainstream radio and television standards have adopted MPEG-H audio, which will greatly improve the level of radio and television services and provide consumers with a rich audio experience. Digital video vs. MPEG-H audio The support of Fraunhofer is another milestone for Fraunhofer, in line with Fraunhofer’s long-standing commitment to the market, which is to provide high-quality leading audio technology for the world, especially Brazil, China and Europe."
