◆ Current limiting function function
How it works: To ensure that the motor starting device does not exceed a specific current value, then the current limiting function needs to be activated. When the motor is started, the voltage ramp always rises. Before the circuit exceeds the parameterized current limit *Ie, the voltage ramp function will stop and the current limit function will start. If the motor current falls below the limit again, the voltage ramp function will be controlled again until the motor starts.

◆ Motor protection function
3RW52 soft starter has two motor protection functions, one is electronic motor overload protection and the other is thermosensitive motor protection using temperature sensor (optional). The combination of the two functions can achieve all-round motor protection.
Electronic motor overload protection works by using the measured motor current and parameters to set the rated operating current Ie, and the grade (trip grade) to calculate the approximate temperature of the motor.
